Adom Kashmir Majar Tangail

Adam Kashmir Mazar Sharif is a shrine of Hazrat Shahan Shah Baba Adam Kashmiri (RA) located in Nagerpur Upazila at a distance of 25 km from Tangail district headquarters. Shahan Shah Baba Adam Kashmiri (R.H.) came here from Kashmir to preach the religion. He used to mainly sit and rest and talk at the place where the shrine is set up. At present, a structure has been constructed preserving this place, which is known as Adom Kashmir Majar to the locals.

Located on 54 acres of land near Nagarpur Bazar Road, is the house built by Zamindar Satish Roy Bahadur Chowdhury, locally known as Chowdhury Bari. Satish Roy Bahadur Chowdhury used to run the Zamindari from this Chowdhury house, a witness to many of the history and traditions of Nagarpur. Inside this zamindar house with artistic craftsmanship, there are Ghor Dalan, Rangmahal and Pari Dalan.

Nagarpur Mahila College was established in this zamindar house. A rare example of religious harmony is the mosque and temple located in the same courtyard near the zamindar's house. For almost 30 years, Hindu-Muslims have been practicing religion together here.

To the south of Chowdhury house there is a huge reservoir called Upendra Sarovar with 12 ghats. Locally there are many legends about this Dighi. Nagarpur Upazila Sadar has two other small zamindars with beautiful and well-crafted houses. Also, there is Udayatara Samadhi Soudh built about 200 years ago at a place called Goihata in the upazila. The monument built on the tomb of the then zamindar Kali Kumar Chowdhury's mother is about 300 feet high. Locally, the Udayatara Samadhi monument is known as the Goyahatar Mutt.

There is also one more Zamindar house in Pakutiya Union. Presently Pakutia BCRG College is being run in Pakutia Zamindar's house. Ahmad Shah (R.H.) Mazar Sharif is located in Raturia Bazar in Nagarpur. A lot of devotees and visitors gather in this shrine as well.

Dhaka to Tangail From Mohakhali Bus Terminal in Dhaka, Baram, Jhatika, Dhaleswari etc. buses ply regularly to Tangail. All these buses charge 180 to 250 taka.

Besides, Tangail can be reached by Dhumketu Express, Ekta Express, Silk City Express, Sirajganj Express, Tangail Commuter, Chitra Express, Hritzan Express and Lalmony Express trains from Dhaka Kamalapur Railway Station. The price of train ticket will be 95 to 397 taka depending on the seat.

From Tangail Adam Kashmir shrine to Nagarpur upazila by bus and CNG are available from Babystand in Tangail district town. Bus fare usually costs Tk 40 to Tk 60, and CNG to Nagarpur costs Tk 80 to Tk 100 per person. Nagarpur upazila headquarters can be reached on foot or by rickshaw to reach all the nearby attractions.

Nagarpur Upazila Sadar has a government post bungalow and a privately owned guest house called Shapla Guest House. Besides, when you return to Tangail city, you can spend the night here in various quality rest houses and residential hotels.

There are some basic food hotels in Nagarpur, from where you can get essential food. Or if you go back to Tangail city day after day, you can eat in different quality hotels and restaurants in Tangail city according to your taste and ability.
