Introduction to Sreemongol Tea Museum Moulvibazar

Sreemongol Tea Resort And Museum (Sreemongol Tea Resort And Museum) was established in 2009 in Moulvibazar, the famous capital of tea, to uphold the history and tradition of tea plantations . This tea museum is arranged with more than 44 collections and memorabilia in four rooms near the Tea Research Center to present to the new generation all the details related to the tea industry and tea cultivation in Bangladesh. Charming tea resort location next to tea museum. Originally an old British bungalow has been transformed into a modern resort.
Surrounded by eye-catching green tea plantations, the museum houses various ancient artifacts including various machinery used in tea plantations during the British rule, hundreds of pieces of furniture used in British bungalows, tea processing machinery, things used by tea plantation managers and tea workers, ancient silver and copper coins. A special attraction of this tea museum is a room filled with memorabilia of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibar. In 1957-58, Bangabandhu visited the Nandbari tea plantation in Srimangal when he was the chairman of the Pakistan Tea Board. Chairs and tables used by him are preserved in this museum. Besides, there is a special portrait of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman dressed in white Punjabi pajama, which is fascinating to see.
Admission Fees & Timings: The Tea Museum is open daily from 10 am to 4 pm. The entry ticket here is Tk 20 per person.

how to go

You can go to Srimangal in Sylhet by train and bus from Dhaka. Srimangal can be reached by Upaban, Jayantika, Parabat or Kalni Express from Kamalapur railway station. Class wise fare will be 240 to 828 taka. If you want, you can also go to Srimangal by buses like Hanif, Ena, Shyamoli and Sylhet Express. You can visit the tea museum located 4 km from Srimangal by easy bike or auto rickshaw.

Next to the tea museum there is a tea resort with modern facilities adjacent to the tea garden. You can stay here by advance booking. Besides, there are several residential hotels like Hotel Marina, Tea House Rest House, Paradise Lodge, Hotel Mohsin Plaza, Hotel Al Rahman in Srimangal for low cost overnight stay.

The food at Grand Taj, Habib Hotel, Kutum Bari and Srimangal Inn in Srimangal town is quite popular. However, if you are staying at the resort, you can arrange to eat through the authorities. And don't forget to taste seven colors of tea when visiting Srimangal.
