Shillong (Shillong) is the capital of the state of Meghalaya in northeastern India. Located at an altitude of 4908 feet above sea level, Shillong receives heavy rainfall. As a result, many tourists come here to enjoy the nature and monsoons or to visit the sightseeing spots of Shillong.

Or you can come to Sylhet by bus or train from Dhaka. Take bus or CNG from Sylhet to Tamabil. After completing the immigration, you can take a taxi from Dawki and come directly to Shillong.

If you want to come by train from other parts of India, keep in mind that there is no railway in Meghalaya. However, if you choose the railway, you can reach Guwahati railway station by train. There are plenty of buses and cabs available from Guwahati to Shillong. It takes about three and a half hours to go to Shillong from Gauhati by car.

And those who want to go to Shillong by air have to land at Umroi Airport (also called Shillong Airport). The nearest airport to Shillong city is about 27 km away. Several flights from Kolkata and other parts of India land at this airport.

There are various quality residential hotels in Shillong city. If you are a budget traveler, you can easily spend the night at Hotel Night Inn, Pine Suites Hotel or Shillong Club Guesthouse. Among the mid-range hotels, Hotel Center Point and Hotel Alpine Continental are quite popular. The name of the only four star residential hotel in Shillong is 'Hotel Polo Towers'. The rent is more or less depending on the season. It is better to bargain before booking the hotel.

Also, if you do a little research in Shillong Police Bazar, you will find a hotel within your means and budget from among the numerous residential hotels. Many hotels do not want to accommodate Bangladeshis or foreigners, so you should check in advance which hotels you can stay in.

There are many food hotels or restaurants in Shillong. Pork, chicken and fish are mostly available in restaurants here. Popular restaurants include Ginger Restaurant, Sky Grill, Kenmore, Ship and Dine Restaurant, Chef's Multi Cuisine Restaurant and Sesame.

There are not many options for shopping in Shillong. But if you want to shop in Shillong, there is no alternative to Police Bazaar. Besides, you can shop from Sohrabazar on the way to Cherrapunji. Sohrabazar is famous for orange honey, cinnamon and cherry brandy.
