Introduction to Paro Bhutan

Bhutan is called the country of happy people and 51 kilometers away from Thimphu, the capital of Bhutan, a beautiful city called Paro has been built in the Paro valley. There is a lot of history and stories associated with this beautiful city. And so Paro in Bhutan can be a memorable pleasure trip for travel lovers.

Best time to visit Paro

October to November is the best time to visit Paro. Because at this time the sky is clear and the weather is good, the nature of Bhutan is very beautiful in the eyes of tourists. Sightseeing in Paro

Paro is a sacred city to the Bhutanese. So on the way here, you will see various Buddhist shrines. Also, you can see sky-high mountains everywhere in Paro city. In fact the whole city is worth seeing. However, some of the notable places to visit are-
Rinpung Jung : The word Rinpung means “heap of jewels”. This Rinpung Jung is the biggest fort in Paro city. Now it is mainly the residence of Buddhist monks. Paro city looks very beautiful from here. Ta Jung : Built behind Rinpung Jung, Ta Jung is basically a museum. Although it was once used as an observation tower. Currently there are various paintings of various traditional and religious values ​​of Bhutan. National Museum : Ancient stamps and coins of Bhutan can be seen in the National Museum. This museum was once Tajing Fort. Drukgyal Jung : Just 15 km from the National Museum, Drukgyal Jung is the ruins of a Tajing fort on the Tibetan border. Tiger's Nest or Tiger's Monastery : The Paro Tiger's Nest Temple is situated on a steep hilltop in the Paro Valley, 80 km north of Paro. The walk to Tigers Monastery is quite beautiful. There is a coffee shop here. The temple is also known as “Taktsang/Taksang” to the local Bhutanese. Besides, there is an opportunity to do trekking in Tiger's Nest. Kichu Monastery : A huge idol of Guru Padmasambhava is installed in the main room of Kichu Monastery. There is also an orange grove here. Paro Chu : The word Chu means river. And Paro Chu is the only river of Paro. The characteristic of this river is the flowing clear water, which calms the mind. Iron Bridge : This Iron Bridge is an ancient structure located on the Paro river beside the Thimpur highway. Chomo Lahri : “Chomo Lahri” is a sacred mountain to the people of Bhutan and Tibet.

How to go to Paro, Bhutan

You can go to Paro in Bhutan by plane, bus and train. By air i.e. by plane, one can go to Bhutan in less time and comfortably. Paro is the only airport in Bhutan. Druk Air and Royal Bhutan Airlines operate direct flights from Dhaka to Paro, Bhutan. Also via Bagdogra Airport you can go to Bhutan by road. And the cost of traveling by air is more than the cost of road. Air fare is 20-24 thousand taka per person but it takes only one and a half to two hours to reach. Bhutan can be entered through the three points of Dzongkhaar, Gelefu and Phuntsheling by road. Accessing Bhutan from Phuntsholing by road is easy and convenient. Paro can be reached by bus, jeep or taxi from Phuntsholing. In case of going by train, you have to go from the Indian border town of Jaigaon to Hasimara in New Jalpaiguri or Alipur Duar. From Hasimara/Alipur take a bus or hire a car to Phuntsholing and from there take a taxi or jeep to Paro. Again from Shilda take Kanchankanya Express to Hasimara and from there by car or auto cross Jaigaon gate and go to Phuntsholing. But in this case it takes a lot of time and also transit visa of India is mandatory to go to Bhutan through India.
If you go to Paro via Thimpu and then return to Punakha, it will take a little more time, but the cost will be less.

Paro travel expenses

The entire 'Paro' city can be explored by hiring a car from Phuntsholling. 5/6 people will easily cost less than traveling alone. If you want to see the city by renting a car for 5 days, it will cost 2500 to 3000 taka per person.
If you come to Bhutan by road and stay in Paro for 5 days and 4 nights, a group of 5/6 people will spend from 17,000 to 21,000 taka per person. But of course shopping or personal expenses accounts are different. Again, if you go with different travel groups, the cost is quite low.

Paro is the best place to stay in Bhutan. Many types of hotels can be found here along the main road. You will find several hotels from the minimum 900 taka to the maximum 2200 taka. However, some hotels on the top of the hill are a bit more expensive. Among the good quality hotels are Peljorling, Samdup Soling, Jamling, Pemling, Parle Cottage, Jurmi Dorji, Mandela Resort, Dewachen Resort, Kitchu Resort, Hotel Olathhang, Hotel Druk etc. Also, there are several hotels to stay opposite the police station and near the Paro bus stand, such as City Hotel, KK Hotel, Hotel Dragon, Base Camp Hotel, Hotel Zigmelling. Many Bangladeshi people prefer to stay in these hotels as many Bengali dishes are available in these hotels.

where to eat

The price of Bengali food here is more than that of Bhutanese local food. However, for those who prefer to eat vegetables rather than fish meat, there are various vegetarian food arrangements in Paro. In fact, the people of Paro, Bhutan prefer vegetarian food and every vegetarian food is very interesting to eat. Among the slightly different dishes you will find Dortsi which is actually a cow's milk cheese, Emma Dortsi (a type of stew cooked with melted cheese).

For shopping lovers, there is no dearth of places to shop in Paro. You can buy various souvenirs, handwoven cloths, wooden items from the handicraft emporium. You can also buy various show-pieces, silk and woolen cloths, prayer wheels etc. from Paro.
