Introduction to Palawan Island Philippines

Palawan Island in the Philippines is the largest island in Palawan Province. The island's capital, Puerto Princesa, is popular with tourists for its biodiversity. Especially the underwater river national park here, various sea beaches, mountain peaks all together make this island like a paradise for those who are thirsty for travel. And so when visiting the Philippines, Palawan Island is at the top of tourists' choice.

Sightseeing in Palawan

Basically many islands meet in this island. And Puerto Princesa and El Lido are the main places to visit. There are also several tourist spots scattered around the island. For the convenience of tourists, some special places are presented here with a brief description-

Puerto Princesa Subterranean National Park

Puerto Princesa Subterranean National Park is a protected area in the Philippines. The park is located in the St. Paul mountain range on the west coast of Palawan Island, about 80 kilometers north of Princesa City. It has the world's longest navigable underground river. You can wander in the underground river and get lost in the caves in the pristine nature. Before starting the tour in this park, tourists are allowed to listen to an audio recording containing some technical and historical information about the park. And while passing through different rocks and caves on the boat, you will see many wild animals. And in terms of tickets, if you book tickets online, you will have to spend around 1500-1600 Philippine pesos per person for a 30-40 minute boat ride. Lunch is also provided.

Nakpan Beach

Nakpan Beach in El Lido is the longest white sand beach in the Philippines. The view of this beach from the top of the hill is mesmerizing. Although going to this beach is a bit difficult, once you reach here, the difficulty disappears in no time. If you swim in the clear and calm water here, you will feel a cool calmness. However, if you swim at night, you will get a chance to see fluorescent plankton. Many people come here for sunbathing and picnic with family.

Ugong Rock

This hilly tourist area offers opportunities for sky diving along with a 75 meter high cliff. Here will be a new experience opportunity like Jeep Line. And for adventure this place is more preferred by tourists.

Palawan Butterfly Ecological Garden

Palawan Butterfly Ecological Garden and Tribal Village (Palwan Butterfly Ecological Garden And Tribal Village) located in Puerto Princesa will see numerous colorful butterflies in the garden. And the local tribals are mainly involved in various garden activities. On top of the two-story building, you can see the indigenous people of Palawan colonial period. And there is a special show through which one can learn about the culture, language and way of life of the tribals. And at the end of the show, there will be an opportunity to take pictures. Entrance fee to Ecological Garden is 50 pesos.

Papawan Falls

Papawyan Falls is within walking distance from Port Barton. Many people come here to see this natural spring which is 20 meters high in the middle of the forest. Swimming in the ice-cold brown water of the fountain is undoubtedly a delight for the tourists. Again there are two separate places for Bar B Q where many visit with family and friends during holidays. And on the way here, there will be an opportunity to climb to the top of Mount Pio. The entrance fee here is basically given as a donation and so you have to enter here with your own donation.

Palawan Museum

Palawan Museum (Palawan Museum) has been built based on the cultural heritage of Palawan. Ancient artifacts dating back nearly 20,000 years are carefully preserved in this small museum. And you can visit this whole museum within 20-25 minutes.

Palawan Heritage Center

Before going anywhere in Palawan, it is better to go to the Palawan Heritage Center (Palawan Heritage Center) to get a brief idea about the islands of Palawan as well as the rich culture. Here you can see various paintings, historical paintings and small idols of tribals. But if you go through a tour guide, you will get to know the various history here. Entrance fee is 50 pesos per person for 1 hour guided tour.

Kayangan Lake

Kayangan Lake, located in Karon, Palawan, is a special attraction for tourists. After about 15 minutes of trekking across the island, one has to reach this lake. There are opportunities for swimming and hiking as well as snorkeling. The water of the lake is so transparent and clear that the reflection of the mountain peaks is fully reflected in the water. A different flavor is found in the caves in the middle of the lake. But it is better to go here in the morning to avoid the crowd.

Wildlife Rescue and Crocodile Conservation Farm

Palawan Wildlife Rescue and Crocodile Conservation Farm (palawan wildlife rescue and conservation center) located in Puerto Princesa is a special attraction of Palawan, Philippines. Although it is far from the city, it is always crowded with tourists. Originally, this rescue center is better known as a crocodile farm to the locals. The skin and skeleton of the longest crocodile is preserved here. You can even see small crocodiles. Apart from crocodiles, you can see birds, snakes, piglets and many other animals here. The entry fee here is 40 pesos per person.

Special Battalion World War II Memorial Museum

World War II memorabilia is displayed at the privately owned Special Battalion World War-2 Memorial Museum in Puerto Princesa, Palawan. Here you will have the opportunity to learn about Palawan's World War II history as well as see various items used by the fallen soldiers. This museum is open from 8 am to 5:30 pm. And the entry fee is basically calculated as a donation.

Mount Mantalingajan

Mount Mantalingajan, located on the southern side of Palawan Island, is the highest mountain in Palawan Province. Tourists come here mainly for hiking.

Mount Victoria

Located in the center of Palawan, Mount Victoria (Mount Victoria) can be seen from the top of the mountain. And different species of birds can be seen here.
And a little away from Palawan Island, there is another special attraction for tourists, Barracuda Lake (Baracuda Lake) where tourists can get lost in the dream state. Tourists can swim in certain areas of this huge lake. And snorkeling and scuba diving in the clear water here will undoubtedly give a different experience. But the cost here is a little higher.
You can also visit Sabang Beach, Nagtabon Beach, Immaculate Conception Cathedral, Hundred Caves, Rasa Island, Makinit Hot Springs, Kuawao. In places like Kuyawyaw Waterfalls, Papaya Beach, Ille Cave, Tabon Caves, Puerto Princesa City Baywalk Park.

How to get to Palawan Island

From Manila, domestic airlines such as Air Philippines, Cebu Pacific and Philippines Airlines will arrive at Busuanga Airport in Palawan. And these flights travel daily from Manila to Puerto Princesa City. It takes about 1 hour and 15 minutes to fly to Palawan Island, which is 877 kilometers from Manila.

Going from Manila to Palawan Island will cost Tk 3300-3500 per person. Travel from Bangladesh to Manila, stay in Palawan city, eat, travel, and stay in Palawan city for 3 nights and 2 days will cost approximately Tk 85,000-95,000 per person. Palawan's Puerto Princesa is home to most of the restaurants. However, apart from Kalui Restaurant, Noki Knox Savory House, you will also find different Philippine cuisines at Balinsasayo Restaurant, Vietville Restaurant. And among the food, you can try a variety of seafood including chicken inasal, chow chow noodles, halo halo, hopia bread. And the dry banana chips, dry fish, casuanut, honey, tuna fish here are particularly noteworthy.

Puerto Princesa, Palawan has several quality shopping malls for shoppers. But Libby's Road here has some good shops to buy gift items and souvenirs. Also, Binutan Creations, China Town Center Palawan, Robinsons Place Palawan will also find many things to choose from for shopping. Mainly from Palawan, you can buy various items of handy crafts, hobby items, home decoration show-pieces and souvenirs. Another tourist spot is the Palawan Wildlife Rescue and Crocodile Conservation Farm, which has a small souvenir shop where you can buy various gift items at low prices.
