Nazrul Square Chittagong

Nazrul Square is the current name of DC Hill/ DC's Hill located on Nandankan Buddhist Temple Road near Zero Point of Chittagong city. The official residence of the Chittagong District Commissioner is located on the top of this hill surrounded by tall trees. At the beginning of the British rule, the Chakma king had his house on the top of this hill. In that continuation, when Chittagong District Commissioner's bungalow was built here, the hill came to be known as DC Hill. National poet Kazi Nazrul Islam often came here to spend his free time. DC Hill was renamed Nazrul Square on 10 April 2005 to commemorate his arrival.

Since the late seventies (year 1978), Pahela Boishakh, the festival of Bengali life, has been celebrated every year with great enthusiasm at Nazrul Square. Apart from Pahela Baishakh, various cultural programs including stage plays, film screenings are organized here on various national days and festivals. Currently, this Nazrul Square is crowded with visitors of different ages.

Nazrul Square (Old DC Hill) is located on Nandankan Buddhist Temple Road, just 1 km from Chittagong City Zero Point. DC Hill can be reached by bus, CNG and rickshaw from anywhere in Chittagong city.

Dhaka to Chittagong: From Dhaka Sayedabad Bus Terminal Saudia, Unique, TR Travels, Green Line, Hanif Enterprise, Shyamoli, Sohag, S. Chittagong can be reached by AC-Non/AC buses of various transports like Alam, Modern Line etc. And if you want to go to Chittagong by train from Dhaka, you can travel by Tourist Express, Cox's Bazar Express, Sonar Bangla, Suborn Express, Turna-Nishitha, Mahanagar Prabhati/Godhuli, Chittagong Mail from Kamalapur Railway Station. In the train, the fare will be Tk 405-1398 per person per seat.
