Mithapur Zamindar Bari Madaripur

Mithapur Zamindar Bari is a historical archaeological monument of Bangladesh located in Mithapur of Madaripur Sadar Upazila. As there are no inscriptions or any documents, the exact information about the construction of this zamindar house is not known. Zamindar Gholam Chattar Chowdhury, Zamindar Gholam Mawla Chowdhury and Professor G. W. Chowdhury are considered to be the successors of this Zamindar clan.

Every day numerous visitors come to Mithapur to see the architectural style of Mithapur zamindar houses, exquisite terracotta crafts and other monuments of ancient architecture. At the back of the zamindar house there is a small pond with an embanked ghat.

Distance from Dhaka to Madaripur by road is 128 km via Padma bridge. There are direct buses from Dhaka's Gabtali and Keraniganj (across Naya Bazar Bridge) to Madaripur. Sarbik Paribahan, Chandra Paribahan and Sohel Paribahan buses leave for Madaripur from Gabtali bus stand. Madaripur-bound buses are also plying from Syedabad Bus Terminal at regular intervals.

Try to book a direct bus ticket, ticket price is Tk 350 to Tk 400 per person (variable). It takes about 3 hours to reach Madaripur by bus. If you come to Mithapur by auto rickshaw or any other arrangement from Madaripur Sadar, ask anyone around and they will show you the house of Mithapur zamindar.

Besides, you can take any bus from Gabtali to Barisal and get down at Mustafapur and from there you can take a bus or autorickshaw to Madaripur Sadar.
