Matta Moth Manikganj

Matta Math (Matta Moth) located in Manikganj district headquarters is a historical architectural monument. It is known that about two and a half hundred years ago, a tyrant landlord named Hemsen in Patal village built this monastery on his father's cremation ground. Built on 15 percent land on the banks of the Neetal Dighi, the height of the monastery is about 200 feet high. Artisans were brought from Iraq to build the Mutt's monastery.

Around 1965, a group of American tourists expressed interest in renovating the Mutt Math, but it was not possible due to the obstruction of local influential Hindus. In 1972, a group of Chinese tourists marveled at the elaborate construction of the monastery.

Buses like Neelachal, Padma Line, Selfie leave for Manikganj from Gabtali Bus Terminal in the capital Dhaka. From any part of Manikganj district city, you can visit Mutta Math by rickshaw/CNG.

As it is close to the capital Dhaka, you can visit the Matta Math and come back day after day. But there is no such accommodation in the vicinity. There are some residential hotels in Manikganj town. And for food, Manikganj will find normal and medium quality hotels and restaurants. If you have a chance, try the famous Nizam sweets of Terashri village in Ghior upazila of Manikganj district.
