Many films of Bollywood, Kolkata and India have been shot in Manali. Manali, a land of heavenly natural beauty, has numerous places to fascinate tourists.
Rothang Pass (Rohtang Pass) : Located at an altitude of 3,978 meters above sea level, Rothang Pass is located 51 km from Manali city. From Manali, you can go here to see the scenic views along the beautiful hilly roads. Here you can enjoy skating and tobogganing among the huge mountains covered with white snow. However, from December to mid-June, traffic is closed due to heavy snowfall.
Solang Valley: Solang Valley is 14 km away from Manali. It can be reached by the road to Rothang Pass. For adventure lovers, there are various entertainment activities like parachuting, paragliding, skating, zorbing, bunjee and jeep line. 400 rupees per person for each ride.
Manikaran (Msnikaran): Manikaran is located 44 km from Kullu. Basically Manikaran is a place of pilgrimage for all people irrespective of caste and religion. Apart from Gurudwaras and Mahadev temples, a hot spring, there are numerous temples here.
Hidimba Devi Temple: This temple was built in 1553 dedicated to Hidimba, the wife of Bhima, the mythological character of Mahabharata. The temple is surrounded by forests.
Bon Bihar: Bon Bihar is a beautiful place to spend some quiet time. Here, the speakers always play beautiful songs with low melodies.
Rehala Falls: On the way back from Rothang Pass, you will come across a beautiful waterfall. The water of Rehala Jharna flows into the river Beas.
Gulaba: Gulaba is a little far from Rehala Jharna. It is one of the most popular places to play amidst the beautiful scenery and snow. Skiing is available here.
Beas River (Beas River): Beas River flows near the city of Manali. For the adventure lovers, this river has all the rafting arrangements in the freezing cold water.
Kullu: Kullu is a hill state in Manali with places like Mahadev Temple, Vaishnava Devi Temple, Nagar Castle, Hanging Bridge and Sams Lake.
Mandi: Mandi has Pandoh Dam which dams the river to generate electricity.
Roerik Art Gallery: The once residence of the famous Russian painter Lykola Roerik has now been converted into the Roerik Art Gallery.
