Introduction to Jangalbari Fort

Jangalbari Fort is located in Kadirjungal Union of Karimganj Upazila, just 7 kilometers away from Kishoreganj district . Isha Khan, chief of the Bar Bhuiyans of Bengal, established his second capital at the fort of Jangalbari. It is currently listed as a historical archaeological site by the Directorate of Archeology of Bangladesh.

history

It is known that Isa Khan (Isa Khan) came from Afghanistan with 1400 horsemen, 21 boats and a lot of ammunition to the then state of Tripura after receiving a secret invitation from the zamindars of Bengal who were helpless under the exploitation of the Mughal emperor and the English. In 1585 Koch defeated Raja Lakshman Hazra and Ram Hazra and captured the fort of Jangalbari. After capturing the fort, Isha Khan constructed some structures inside the fort and converted the fort into a round island by digging moats on three sides and connecting it with Narsunda river. However, the original Jangalbari fort is believed to be built in the pre-Muslim era. Later, Isha Khan captured a total of 22 parganas including Sonargaon from this fort. In the earthquake of Bengal 1326, almost all the structures of the fort were destroyed except the Durbar Hall, the living room and a mosque.
