Gupta Vrindavan Tangail

About 30 km east of Ghatail upazila of Tangail district, Gupta Brindaban village is located in the bordering area of ​​Fulbaria upazila of Mymensingh. Here every year on the 12th day of the month of Chaitra, a crowded Baruni Mela is organized around a 700-year-old black tamal tree. Apart from Hindus, this festival attracts visitors of all religions from the surrounding villages.

There are various legends surrounding the naming of the Gupta Vrindavan village and the tamal tree. The local Hindus, tribals and Vaishnava communities of the area believe that Lord Krishna escaped with Radha and 1500 gopinis due to the brutal torture of King Kangsa in Madhura. Due to this incident the place came to be known as Gupta Vrindavan. But according to the information available from history, the earlier name of this place is Vrindavan. In 1577, Vaishnavism preacher named the place Gupta Vrindavan as a result of obtaining various Gupta artifacts from this place. And the devotees of Radha Krishna believe that Radha Krishna used to swing on the branches of the tamal tree in Gupta Vrindavan and meet in Abhisara. There is a Radha Govinda temple on the northern side of the tamal tree. Besides, there are various ancient statues and temples here. Every year in Chaitra month of Bangla Sun, annual fair and kirtanajna are organized here.

Ghatail upazila can be directly reached by private transport or bus from Dhaka through Joydevpur-Tangail-Jamalpur highway. Besides, you can go to Ghatail via Tangail. Gupta Brindavan village is 27 km away by renting CNG from Ghatail Upazila Sadar.

It is more convenient to stay in Tangail town than Ghatail for overnight stay. There are various types of accommodation in Tangail city.
