Godkhali Jashore

Godkhali is well known as the flower capital of Bangladesh. Gadkhali market is 18 km from Jessore district town towards Benapole. The flowers from Gadkhali are cultivated on about 4000 bighas of 90 villages of Jhikargacha and Sharsha thanas, 25 km from Jessore. On both sides of the road in the villages of Jhikargacha and Sharsha thana, one has to look mesmerized to see the red, blue, yellow, purple and white flowers on the horizon. In addition, the message of eternal beauty comes here with the fragrance of flowers, the hum of bees, and the wings of colorful butterflies.

Digant Jora fields are cultivated with rosy gandha, rose, gladiolus and marigold flowers. Flowers are collected from there and brought to Gadkhali market in bullock carts. From Gadkhali, the aroma of the capital of flowers reaches different parts of the country including Dhaka. The best time to visit Gadkhali is January and February. Now the beauty of spring flowers enthralls the visitors almost throughout the year.

Dhaka to Jessore by Bus : From the capital Dhaka, Jessore can be reached by road, rail and air. Several AC/Non-AC buses of Sohag, Hanif, SP Golden Line, MR Enterprise, Desh Travels, AK Travels, Green Line, Shyamoli and Eagle Transport operate from Kalyanpur, Gabtali and Kalabagan in Dhaka. Non-AC bus fare to Jessore is Tk 550-750 and AC bus fare is Tk 750-1300.

Dhaka to Jessore by Train : Intercity Sundarban Express train departs from Dhaka's Kamalapur Railway Station at 8:15 AM on 6 days of the week except Wednesdays to Jessore and another intercity train named Chitra Express departs to Jessore on 6 days of the week except Sundays at 7:30 PM and Benapole. Express departs for Jessore at 11:45 PM on 6 days of the week except Wednesday. Class wise train ticket price is Tk 560-1,927.

Besides, Bangladesh Biman, US-Bangla Airlines and NovoAir operate regular flights on Dhaka-Jesore route from the domestic terminal of Dhaka Shahjalal International Airport.

Jessore to Gadkhali : If you want to go to Gadkhali flower state, you have to hire a rickshaw from Jessore bus stand or any part of Jessore city and come to the local bus stand. Buses to Gadkhali are available from the local bus stand. On reaching Gadkhali, take a van to see the flower cultivation land. Bargaining a van for an hour can cost 100-150 taka.
