Bahadur Shah Park Dhaka

Bahadur Shah Park is a traditional park located in Laxmibazar, Sadarghat area of ​​Old Dhaka. On 17 February 1885, a monument was erected in the park in front of the present Jagannath University in memory of Khwaja Hafizullah, son of Sir Salimullah.

7 roads converge around this oval park. Bahadur Shah Park has a pleasant environment surrounded by trees and has a monument built in memory of Nawabzada Khwaja Hafizullah and a fountain built by the City Corporation. Nawab Khan Bahadur Park was renamed as Bahadur Shah Park in 1957.

At the end of the 18th century, the Armenians had a billiard club on the site of Bahadur Shah Park. The locals called the billiard ball as Anta, hence the club house and the grounds adjacent to the club came to be known as Antaghar and Anta Maidan. Then after the sepoy rebellion of 1857, the British rulers brought the bodies of the revolutionary sepoys and hung them on the branches of various trees in Anta Maidan to instill fear in the minds of the common people. Later in 1858 Queen Victoria's accession to India was read out at Anta Maidan and hence the place got a new identity as Victoria Park. In 1957, on the occasion of the centenary of the Sepoy Mutiny, a memorial was built in Victoria Park and the park was named Bahadur Shah Park.

Bahadur Shah Park is open 7 days a week. You can enter anytime from 5 am to 10.30 pm. No ticket is required for entry.

There are various public transports to reach Jagannath University from anywhere in Dhaka. In front of the university gate you will actually see the entrance to Bahadur Shah Park.

Near the park are Sadarghat, Ahsan Manzil , Beauty Boarding . If you have time, you can visit all those places.
