Baba Adam Mosque with six domes built by Kafurshah is located in Dargabari village of Mirkadim in Munshiganj district. Even though he was born in far away Arabia, Saint Baba Adam Shaheed (RA) entered India for the purpose of spreading Islam. Later, in 1178, he arrived at Mirkadim in Munshiganj during Sen's rule. At that time Munshiganj was under the rule of Ballal Sen. This saint lost his life at the hands of the tyrant Hindu king Ballal Sen in a local war. Baba Adam Mosque was built in 1483 319 years after the death of martyr Baba Adam. Standing witness to the tradition for nearly 530 years, this mosque reminds the memory of the self-sacrificing father Adam of old.
The mosque is 43 feet long and 36 feet wide, built using red terracotta patterned bricks in the Muslim architectural style. The interior of the 6-domed mosque has a semi-circular carved concave mehrab on the west wall and four octagonal ornate minarets built of granite stones at the four corners. Of the three arched entrances to the front of the mosque, only the middle one is currently in use. The work of ancient paintings on both sides of the central entrance is eye-catching. Besides, there is a black stone plaque engraved in Persian on the upper part of the eastern wall of the mosque. Baba Adam's shrine is in the south east corner of the mosque.
In 1948, the traditional Baba Adam Mosque was brought under the supervision of the Bangladesh Directorate of Archeology and in 1991, a postage stamp with the image of the mosque was issued by the Government of Bangladesh. Throughout the year numerous visitors from the country and abroad come to visit this mosque.
