Famous for its pearls, Al Khor has many places to visit. The city is famous for its attractive roads between hilltops, port for small ships and fish trade. There are several watch towers which have been newly renovated. At the same time, there are mangrove forests where numerous birds can be seen.
Al Khor Island (Al Khor Island): This island is located in the city of Al Khor on the north-eastern coast of Qatar. The only archeological site within the city contains various artifacts dating back to the second millennium BC. This island is also known as Purple Island. Surrounded by mangroves, small hills and caves, this island is very popular among tourists. One has to walk through the canal to enter the island. Although it seems difficult to many, going here will be an adventure experience. But currently the bridge is being worked on for the convenience of tourists. As you walk around the island, you will enjoy the beautiful scenery. Especially from here you will see an unprecedented view of the sunset. Again there is an opportunity to catch fish and crabs here. Many people also come here for outdoor bar-b-que. And November to December is the best time to visit here. But it is better not to go here with small children.
Al Khor Beach (Al Khor Beach): A well-kept beach in Qatar that is controlled by the Qatar Tourism Authority. The weather here is very nice throughout the year so tourists like to visit here anytime. There are nice places for kids to play.
Al Khor Park: Al Khor is a popular park in the city. There is a lot of greenery around here. There is also a small zoo where birds, peacocks, zebras, turtles, deer and many other animals can be seen. And there is a large covered field for children to play. Many people come here with their families to have a picnic on holidays. There is no entry fee for children but 5 Riyals per person for adults.
Al Thakirah Coast : Recently renovated, this island is one of the other beaches in Qatar. Located off the coast of Al Khor town is the naturally beautiful Al Thakhira Island surrounded by mangrove forests and beaches. Many people come for cycling and jogging on this beach which is about 2 kilometers long. There is also a large playground for children.
Al Tawasul Traditional Park (Al Tawasul Traditional Park): Another park similar to Al Khor Park, but on a much smaller scale. Spread over an area of about 28,500 square meters, this park has various entertainment activities. There are children's playgrounds, soccer fields and running tracks for athletes. One of the special attractions of this park is its environment, there are various types of trees throughout the park and because of this it is the habitat of various animals and birds, including peacocks and many unknown birds. A very educational place for small children where they can see and learn about many kinds of animals while playing in a beautiful environment. There is also a traditional fountain here. So it will definitely be nice to visit here with your family.
Al Khor Corniche: Another special attraction of Al Khor is this place. The recently renovated place is now open for tourists. The architecture of Al Khor Karnish is worth noting. Constructed of 22,500 square meters of granite, the design, shape and color of this cornice is quite different from other architecture. Apart from renovating a beautiful children's play area, three new buildings are also in the works. As a tourist place, although it is new and still a lot of work is going on, it would be nice to visit here.
