Tindu Bandarban

Tindu is located in Thanchi Upazila of Bandarban District. Tindu is called the heaven of Bangladesh. The mountainous Sangu River flows past Tindur. Mountains, clouds, rivers, springs, mystery and thrill are all found together here, making Tindu one of the most popular attractions for adventure lovers. Here, the clear water of the Sankh river is flowing with the hard rocks all the time. Here you can spend the time by immersing yourself in the water of mountains and chatting with new fish all day long. You will definitely be impressed by the simplicity and hospitality of the local tribal people. The mountains are surrounded by clouds in the morning and afternoon. You will not feel the time that will pass when you see Meghmela. Tindur's awesomeness cannot be overstated.

The region is well-known to adventure-loving tourists for its varied natural beauty. And so if you are an adventure lover then don't miss the opportunity of this unique adventure within the country. Besides, Nafakhum Jharna is now a very attractive place for adventure lovers. You can visit Tindu on the way to or from Nafakhum or you can stay if you want.

You can visit Tindu at any time of the year. Tindu and its surroundings will be captured in different forms at each time. If you go during the rainy season, you will get the appearance of stormy Sangu and the movement of clouds, similarly, if you go during the winter, you will be impressed by the appearance of congealed clouds and fog around the Sangkh river.

To go to Tindu you have to come to Bandarban district headquarters first. Then from Bandarban to Thanchi, from Thanchi by boat across Sangu River to Tindu Bazar.

From Kalabagan, Syedabad, Gabtali and Fakirapool in Dhaka, transport buses like Shyamli, Hanif, Unique, S Alam, Dolphin etc leave for Bandarban every day. You can easily reach Bandarban by taking any bus between 10 pm and 11:30 pm. The fare of these non-AC and AC buses is between Tk 800 to Tk 1800 per person. From Dhaka you can go to Chittagong by train and from there you can go to Bandarban. Tourist Express , Cox's Bazar Express , Sonar Bangla, Subarna, Mahanagar etc. trains leave Chittagong from Dhaka every day . Depending on the category, the fare will be Tk 405-1398.

You can go to Bandarban from Chittagong's Baddarhat bus station. Two Badas named Pubali and Purbani set out for Bandarban. These two buses cost Tk 220 per person. Besides, you can go to Bandarban from Dhampara bus stop. If you want, you can go to Bandarban from Chittagong by rent a car, microbus fare is Tk 2,500-3,500.

Bandarban to Thanchi Bandarban to Thanchi upazila distance is about 79 km. There are two ways to go from Bandarban to Thanchi; By bus or reserve jeep. A local bus leaves for Thanchi after one hour from Thanchi bus stand in Bandarban. Bus fare is Tk 200 per person, time will take 4-5 hours. Reserve Jeep/Chander will cost Rs 5,500-6,000 and will take 3-3.5 hours. One car can carry 12-14 people easily. Milanchari, Chimbuk and Nilgiris will pass on the way while going to Thanchi . This long hilly trek will refresh your eyes and mind to see the pristine landscape around.

You must fix a guide to reach Tindu Thanchi from Thanchi . Can't go on Tindu tour without a guide. Anyone who has permission from the Upazila Prosecution can be taken as a guide. Guide fee is Tk 1500 for one night stay. And if you go during the day and come back on the same day, the guide fee is 800 taka. You can also go to Thanchi to fix the guide or you can fix it by talking to a guide you already know. After fixing the guide you need to take permission from Thanchi BGB Camp/ Police Station. The name, address, phone number, where to go, how long will stay for all the traveling members should be written and submitted on paper. And your guide will help in these tasks.

After obtaining permission, small engine boats should be hired from Thanchi Ghat. 4-5 people can go in one boat. The engine boat fare up to Tindu is Tk 3,000-3,500 including reserve going and next day return. And if you come back on the same day instead of staying at night, the boat rental is Tk 2,000-2,200 to and fro. It takes about two hours to go to Tindu by boat from Thanchi. If the water is low in Sangu, it may take a little longer to get off the boat and walk at some places. On the way, the form of Sangu River will enchant you.

The accommodation in Tindu is in the bamboo-wood Machang houses of the tribals and the bungalows built by the women members of the Union Parishad there. And if you want, you can spend the night camping with a tent. The tribal houses there are very tidy and hospitable. There are no hotels to eat but where you stay they will cook. If you want, you can bring it from the market from Thanchi, then you can organize the cooking yourself. Daily accommodation cost in tribal houses is 150 taka per person and you will spend 100-150 taka per hour for food. Conch can be eaten with fresh fish from the river or mountain chicken, pulses and potatoes.

Kumari Jharna is located near Tindu Bazar. This virgin spring is in full bloom during monsoons. It takes 10-20 minutes to cross the river from Tindu Bazar to Kumari Jharna. Raja Pathar and Big Stone area near Tindur. If you go upstream from Tindu for twenty minutes, you will see huge rocks. This place is known as Big Stone because of the huge size stones. The beauty of this huge stone kingdom of Tindur will mesmerize you. There are only stones and stones. The boat moves forward through the gap between the rocks of various shapes. Remakri is about an hour's boat ride across the large rocky area. You can visit from there if you want.
