The first Martyrs Memorial Museum (RU Martyrs Memorial Museum) of the country has been built with the collection related to the Liberation War in the green area of Rajshahi University , the highest educational institution of Uttaranchal . Known as the liberation war museum, the history and various memories of the liberation war are preserved in this museum. This museum started its journey in 1976 in the Shaheed Minar Complex of Rajshahi University to invigorate the young generation with the spirit of the Liberation War. Every day many visitors come to the museum here.
The Shaheed Memorial Museum is divided into three galleries with an area of 6,600 square feet. In the first gallery, various collections of liberation war from 1952 to 1971, that is, various artifacts in the history of Bangladesh, have been placed. In this gallery there are various pictures of the 1969 mass uprising, clothes used by freedom fighters, pictures of the first Shaheed Minar of Rajshahi, various photographs based on the liberation war, pictures of the liberation war painted by artists, portraits and numerous rare collections related to the liberation war. In the second gallery, there are other collections including the jinpatra used by the martyred intellectuals, various symbolic sculptures of the liberation war, photos of seven heroes, pictures and portraits of the atrocities of the Pakistani invasion forces. The third gallery contains the skulls of the martyrs killed in the 1971 genocide, historical photographs of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the surrender of the Pakistani invading forces and the victorious Liberation Army.
A major part of the Shaheed Memorial Museum is being used as a research library on Liberation War. Various books, anthologies, manifestos, bound magazines and various paper cuttings are kept in this library from 1947 to 1971.
