Friendship Center located in Madanerpara village of Kanchipara Union of Phulchari Upazila, just 6 km away from Gaibandha district town, is basically an office of a private development organization. In 2002, this organization named Friendship started its journey with the aim of improving the quality of life of marginalized and underprivileged communities. In the Friendship Center built by them, the underprivileged people are made self-reliant through various trainings.
The Friendship Center, which is completely underground, has already won several awards in the country and abroad for its aesthetic architecture. The architect of the building is Kashef Mahbub Chowdhury, inspired by Mahasthangarh Buddhist Vihara. The roof of the building is located on the ground level, and the roof is decorated with eye-catching green grass.
Built on November 18, 2012 along the Gaibandha-Balasi road, this exceptional structure has facilities for carrying out various official functions, including training centre, sports, library and catering facilities. Spread over an area of about 8 bighas, the friendship center also has internet facilities, its own electricity system, non-toxic vegetable cultivation land and a medicinal plant garden.
The Friendship Center is not open to the public. However, you can enter the friendship center if you take permission in advance.
The green grassed rooms of the Friendship Center are naturally quite cool. And the rooms have modern ventilation systems for proper natural light entry. This magnificent building is rented out for organizing various meetings and gatherings.
