Dhanbari Nawab Manzil Tangail

Dhanbari Nawab Manzil is a traditional resort of Bangladesh, locally known as Nawab Bari or Dhanbari Nawab Palace. The present descendants of Nawab Ali Chowdhury are looking after this traditional palace in Tangail district. A few cottages have been constructed here for the accommodation of tourists. Nawab Hasan Ali Chowdhury, a descendant of Nawab Ali Chowdhury's family, was the Minister of Industries of East Pakistan and was a Member of Parliament of Bangladesh in 1978 after independence. Syeda Ashek Akbar, daughter of Nawab Hasan Ali Chowdhury, was elected Member of Parliament in 1981.

Dhanbari Nawab Manzil is one of the zamindar houses in Bangladesh which is being properly cared for and maintained by the hereditary owners. In 1919, Nawab Ali Chowdhury built this zamindar house to invite the then English Lord Ronald. Later, the Nawab welcomed Ronald with a fleet of 30 well-dressed elephants.

To enter the Dhanbari Nawab Manzil, one has to pay a ticket of 30 rupees, which is valid for two hours after entering the Nawab Manzil. Currently Nawab Manzil, Palace, Villas and Cottages are used as Nawab Ali Hasan Ali Royal Resort.

The transfer bus from Dhaka's Mohakhali Bus Terminal to Tangail stops at Dhanbari right in front of Rajbari. However, it takes about 6 to 7 hours to reach Dhanbari due to local service. Besides, you can go to Tangail by Nirala Transport bus from Mahakhali for 160 taka and go to Rajbari by CNG or auto rickshaw.
